oung Managers’ Competition is a programme of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered), open to young members between the ages of 25 and 40 years. The programme was established in 1974 to provide a platform for young managers to unleash their knowledge, managerial skills, experience and creativity.

The Young Managers’ Competition is part of NIM’s commitment to youth development.

ABOUT 2022 YMC ASSESSEMENTS

There are three (3) Assessments Categories for this year’s YMC. The modalities are stated as follows:

1st Assessment

  • The first assessment is an Online Aptitude Test.
  • The assessment link will be forwarded to all registered applicants a week before the scheduled assessment date in August, 2022
  • The test is a combination of both GMAT and Management related questions (Participants will be required to attempt a total of 100 questions)
  • At the end of the first assessment, the top 5 finalists from the 6 NIM zones (making a total of 30 finalists) will progress to the next stage of the competition.
  • Successful participants will be contacted about the next step of action

2nd Assessment

  • The top 30 finalist will be required to make a 20 minutes presentation each on the theme of this year’s YMC to a small audience and competition panelists at their respective zones
  • This will be followed by a 10 minutes question and answer session
  • The panelists will deliberate on the performances of the participants and announce the results
  • The top two (2) participants with the highest scores will emerge from each zones and will be participating at this year’s finals in Lagos.

3rd Assessment

  • The 12 finalists will arrive in Lagos a day before the competition commences.
  • The finalists’ transportation, accommodation and feeding during the course of the competition will be adequately provided for by the Institute.
  • A total of 6 tasks (individual & group) will be assigned to the participants based on the theme of this year’s competition.
  • The tasks will test participants’ presentation skills; as well as their leadership, strategy and management skills
  • Each task will be scored and graded in line with the competition grading system, the top 6 performers will progress to the grand finale and make their final presentation before a large audience and panel of judges.
  • The 2022 YMC winner will be crowned
