Abimbola Olaribigbe AYUBA was born on 3rd of June 1962 in Lagos, he attended St Maryโs Private School, Lagos Island, Olivet Baptist High School, Oyo-Nigeria and Victory High School, Ikeja, Lagos. He joined the military as an Officer Cadet on 17 July 1980 as a member of 28 RC. He was commissioned into the Nigerian Navy as a Sub-Lieutenant on 17 July 1983. He holds a PGD in Management, MBA (General Management) both from Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Bauchi, 1999-2001 and MSc in Strategic Studies from University of Ibadan, 2010. In 2011 and 2012 respectively he attended the Transformation and Ethics Coaching Course and Performance Coaching Course at the UK Transformation School, Hampshire, UK. In 2013 he also attended the Manchester Business School. In May 2017, he completed a Certificate Course in Enterprise Management from Pan Atlantic University, Lagos. In March 2020, he received a Diploma Certificate in Terrorism, Intelligence and Security from The Roman Institute/Baze University, Abuja. He is a UN Certified Country and Regional Advisor of Peace Support Operations. A Specialist Above Water Warfare (AWW) Officer and Principal Warfare Officer (PWO), Commodore Ayuba held several appointments afloat including being the Commanding Officer of Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) AGU and ashore including the Armed Forces of Nigeria, the ECOWAS, African Union and the United Nations, mainly in the areas of Peace support Operations, conflict management/capacity building. He participated in building architectures of the ECOWAS Standby Force, 2005-2006 in Ghana and the Training, Evaluation and Doctrine Development Group of the AU Standby Force in Addis Ababa and Luanda, Angola respectively. Abimbola was member of a UN Subject Matter Expert Working Group on Maritime Operations in Singapore and New York in February-July 2014. Bimbo was Director of Administration at National Defence College from September 2005 to March 2007, Maritime Component Commander/Deputy Force Commander, Operation Pulo-Shield 2012-2013. Bimbo was also Commandant of the prestigious Nigerian Naval College, Onne, Port Harcourt, from February 2013-March 2014, was Chief of Staff, Central Naval Command, Yenagoa, Bayelsa from March 2014 to July 2014. Commodore Bimbo Ayuba became the Director Project Implementation, Monitoring, and Evaluation Branch at the Naval Headquarters, Abuja from July 2014- 2015 and Director Armed Forces Physical Training and Sports at the Defence Headquarters, Abuja till his retirement from the service on 3rd June 2016. He has Commendations from the UN Under-Secretary General for Peacekeeping for Meritorious Service, and the Military Adviser to the UN Secretary General for training and strategic course management contributions. He was awarded the UN Medal of Honour for Service in DR Congo and the Chief of Army Staff Commendation for training contribution, handed by Lt Gen Martin Luther Agwai (Doyen of UN Peace Keeping Operations in Nigeria). He was Chairman Board of Fellows and a recipient of the prestigious Chris Abebe Award (Highest individual Award for Management Excellence), of the Nigerian Institute of Management (Chartered) in August 2021. He became National Treasurer of NIM in 2021 and by December 2022 he was elected Deputy President of the Institute, a position he holds till date. In parallel, he is President of the Africa Centre for Strategic Studies (Nigeria Alumni Chapter) of the United States Defence University (NDU), Washington DC from 2021 till date. He is CEO, Kongolo Consult and Outsourcing Ltd. He currently works as an International Risk and Security Management Consultant and media consultant on global security and Counter terrorism. He holds Fellowship of the Nigerian Institute of Management (FNIM), Fellow of the National Defence College, Nigeria (fdc) and Fellow of the Certified Institute of Shipping (FCIS). Others are: Fellow of the Centre for African American Research Studies (FCAARS) and Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management (FCIPDM) and Alumnus of Africa Centre for Strategic Studies. He is an astute manager, man of candour, great public speaker, resource person and author. He is married to Mrs Antonia Ayuba and blessed with 2 children; plays golf, loves reading, listening to good music and an ardent supporter of Arsenal FC.
